With the entering into force of the Apostille Convention on 16 September 2021, the legalisation of official Singapore documents with apostilles issued by Singapore’s designated competent authority – Singapore Academy of Law – is waived by other contracting parties (including Portugal). Likewise, the Singapore authorities are to accept apostilles for incoming foreign public documents from Portugal (the designated competent authority is Procuradoria Geral da República) and other contracting parties.

Thus, documents for use in Portugal authenticated by the Singapore Academy of Law no longer require lagalization by the Embassy of Portugal in Singapore.
